The Coolest Nerd delivers a positive message to children: accepting yourself is the key to being accepted by others. The book tells the story of a twelve year old boy named Chuck who wants to take a girl named Shannon to a school dance. Chuck's dilemma is that he is very nerdy and Shannon is very stylish. Chuck feels he has no chance of going to the dance with her, so he tries to emulate a famous rapper to impress the girl of his dreams.
