The Smuggler's Apprentice
Thom Poole
Caught up in the impending disaster of another war, the Leitner family were trying to make ends meet. Emil, a veteran of the Great War, had set up a lucrative business smuggling goods across the Austrian border into Switzerland and Liechtenstein. With the increased violence and threats to human life, Emil's business - trafficking people across to the safety of the neutral countries - was increasing. As the business grew, he had to rely more and more on his three children Hans, Marlene and Robert. Starting in 1937, this is a story of Robert's adventures as a smuggler during the National Socialist occupation of his country.
