Despite serious injuries and amnesia, a young man survives the automobile accident in which his twin brother dies. During his recovery he secures a teaching position at an exclusive college in the North Carolina Mountains where the accident had occured. A nurse, daughter of a local Cherokee chief, along with a local pastor, aid the man in his recovery as he struggles to retrieve some small glimmer of his past. Then a woman claiming to be his fiancee unexpectedly arrives one day from Wrightstown, Alabama and wants to assist in his recovery.
