United We Stand Wim Codington

Followers of Jesus have been counted among the most courageous and loving people of the last two millennia. They have also contributed to some of the worst atrocities in the history of the world, many of which were committed against people who also professed hope in Jesus. The Bible calls Jesus the prince of peace, and Jesus Himself prayed earnestly to God that His followers would be unified, or "one" as He Himself is One with His heavenly Father, God. However, followers of Jesus are known more for their disunity than for their unity. This should not be. The call to peace and unity issued by followers of Jesus is easily forgotten when those call for it do not practice it in their own relationships. Let us examine what provides the real foundation for Christian unity and how it may be sought among followers of Jesus around the world.
